"Am I really that slow?"

Someone posted a question to the Randon list recently asking about average speeds of randonneurs. There were some interesting replies, but this one by Dr Codfish was especially good.

(there was also this thread on speedwork which I thought was very useful)

Interesting responses. One of the posters did the same brevet I did. He had a faster moving average, but I finished an hour ahead of him. Clearly, being faster gives you more time to stop, take pictures, eat soup... I don't do those things. And to be honest, I don't really want to - at least not the eating part. Give me a Red Bull and some peanut M & Ms and let me be on my way. :-) I do wish I took more pictures on my rides.
